AFAN COMMENDS GOV. ON RADDA ON INAUGURATION OF AGRIC MECHANIZATION CENTER

The Katsina State chapter of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has commended the State Governor, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, on the successful inauguration of a large Agricultural Mechanization Center which was inaugurated by the President.

The State AFAN Chairman, Alhaji Yau Umar Gwajo-gwajo made the commendation in a chat with newsmen in Katsina shortly after the inauguration of the Agricultural Mechanization Center.

Gwajo-gwajo said the governor has made farmers in the state proud by making huge investments in the agric sector which attracted the attention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to identify with the project.

"Indeed, His Excellency, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, Ph.D, has made us proud, AFAN is very proud of him on behalf of all farmers in Katsina State.

"He has established a very large Agricultural Mechanization Center which will serve as an assembling plant for tractors, planters, harvesters, harrows and other farming implements that will be used by farmers from all parts of the state.

"The centers will also train our students and youths on the technical aspects of agriculture which include he operation of modern farming implements and other critical aspects such as agricultural extension.

Gwajo-gwajo also lauded Governor Radda's passion to boost food security by promoting farming activities through the distribution of fertilizers and other essential farming inputs.

"In the 2024 wet season farming, the governor distributed 448 thousand metric tonnes of fertilizers which has gone a long way in enhancing food production, commerce and the rural economy across the state.

"For the 2025 wet season farming, the governor will distribute another 400 thousand metric tons of fertilizer to farmers across the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.

"On behalf of our members, we hereby want to express our deep appreciation to the Governor for many other initiatives such as grouping small holder farmers into cooperatives to provide assistance to them".

Alhaji Yau Umar Gwajo-gwajo thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Agriculture for distributing 4,000 pumping machines, sprayers, harvesters and other mechanized farming inputs to farmers in the state.

He urged farmers to continue support the State and federal government in their efforts to transform agriculture in the state.
